Politicians, tourism professionals, hoteliers: 3rd World Tourism Forum Lucerne

Lucerne (February 22, 2013). The world's largest tourism trade show is not yet over, but the next industry event with global subjects and global claims has already announced itself: The 3rd "World Tourism Forum Lucerne" (WTFL) can be found in Lucerne, Switzerland from April 17-19, 2013. Its theme: "Tomorrow's Drivers: Green Growth, Talents and New Marketing". Up to 400 executives from all over the world are expected as participants. is once again a media partner for this event that only takes place every two years.

Among other things, the participants will discuss the major global themes: Global Shift, Green Growth and New Marketing Ideas as well as talent management in international tourism. From the hotel industry, President and CEO of Kempinski Hotels Reto Wittwer, is very strongly involved with the WTFL. In his capacity as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the WTFL, he also will also undertake welcoming the guests along with Chief Organiser, Prof. Martin Barth. As also with the first two conventions, Wittwer and Kempinski Hotels are already heavily involved in the theme of talent.

The WTFL is the only tourism convention worldwide that also has the future generation of decision-makers in focus. Each of the participating top executives may invite their best junior staff member from their own company. The forum will receive additional weight with the initiation of the "Think Tank" where the designated subjects will be deepened. 20 top executives and young junior staff members, the so-called "movers & shapers" will be a part of it.

Hotel chains, tour operators and car hire agencies are the principal target groups when the results of a study on loyalty behaviour by travellers in four countries are presented at the WTFL; the study is based on a cooperation with PhoCusWright. But also interesting here is the comparison of which loyalty instruments (still) promise success in general.

Well known hoteliers discussing

This time, the hotel industry is represented a little more strongly than in the first two conventions. And so, the discussion with Bernard Bohnenberger of Six Senses promises exciting insights for tourism professionals such as hoteliers; the pioneer in the matter of luxury eco hotels had directly repositioned itself under new ownership last year and would like to roll up the niche topic worldwide.

In a panel under the title "Ready for the Global Shift?" three known tourism professionals and hoteliers will take part next to several tourism ministers from the most varied of countries: Dr. Michael Frenzel, Chief Executive of TUI and Chairman of TUI Travel, the further-removed Bernold O. Schröder, CEO of the Chinese chain Jin Jiang International as well as Samih Sawiris, Chairman of Orascom Development Holding.

In each case, a ten-minute presentation will be granted by two additional hoteliers: Bruno H. Schöpfer, Managing Director of Katara Hospitality Switzerland who is currently redesigning the mega Bürgenstock Resort over Lake Lucerne as well as Robert Fellermeier, Managing Director of Andermatt Swiss Alps who is establishing the mega-resort in Andermatt.
